Members of the lab actively disseminate findings outside academic circles, here are some examples of the activities we have been involved with:
Gabriella, in collaboration with Courtenay Norbury and Marta Ponari (supported by a grant from the Nuffield Foundation) have completed a project on how children learn abstract concepts that has impact on primary school education. See more details here
In 2014, we organised an event at the Science Museum titled “What is in a name?”and more than 1,000 visitors to the museum participated in our experiments.
In April 2016, Gabriella presented at a meeting on “Deafness and education” in Padua. The event was attended by over 200 people including educators, speech and language therapists, Pediatricians and members of the public.
On October 8th, Caroline Lehr gave a seminar in Dublin within the program for continuing professional development of the Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association. The seminar aimed at familiarising language professionals better with the role that emotions play in cognitive functioning and human performance. Caroline’s seminar was part of her project to transfer and apply emotion research to the work of translators and interpreters, working as multilingual communicators in various international contexts.
